Mark Birrell


Mark Birrell is an experienced company director with credentials spanning the private and public sectors. Mr Birrell is currently the Chairman of Regis Healthcare Limited, Infrastructure Australia and PostSuper Pty Ltd, and President of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Previous roles have included Chairman of the Port of Melbourne Corporation, Chairman of VicHealth, National Leader of the Infrastructure Group at Minter Ellison Lawyers and Chairman of Evans & Peck Limited. Mark Birrell was a Cabinet Minister and Government Leader in the Victorian Upper House from 1992 to 1999.

Nigel Dobson

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited

Nigel Dobson is General Manger, Transformation Projects at ANZ, overseeing enterprise payments transformation and payments  strategy across the group. Mr Dobson is also responsible for delivering wholesale lending and wholesale digital transformation for the institutional bank. Mr Dobson co-leads the banks Blockchain strategy and activities, including partnerships and industry pilots. Mr Dobson is currently a Director of the New Payments Platform (NPPA) in Australia and a Director of the Australian Payments Council (APC).

Leila Fourie

Australian Payments Clearing Association

With over 20 years of international experience, primarily in financial services, Leila Fourie has served on multiple boards and held senior roles in banking, capital markets and payments. Dr Fourie was appointed as CEO of APCA on 12 September 2016. Prior to joining APCA, she served on the board of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange as Executive Director. Before this, Dr Fourie was the Managing Director of the Card Division for one of South Africa’s largest banks, Standard Bank. She also served as Chairman on the board of Diners Club SA and board member on Chicago-based Diners Club International Advisory board.

Michael Eidel

Commonwealth Bank of Australia

Michael Eidel is Executive General Manager of Cash-flow and Transaction Services, Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA). Mr Eidel leads the Group’s portfolio of working capital solutions for business and institutional clients, consisting of trade finance, cash management, payments, deposits, merchants’ solutions, specialist sales and execution. Prior to joining CBA, Mr Eidel was Managing Director at Credit Suisse in Zurich. Michael Eidel is also a member of the Institutional Banking & Markets and Business & Private Banking Leadership teams at the Commonwealth Bank.

Nikala Busse

Coles Financial Services

Nikala Busse is the Head of Information Technology and Payments for Coles Financial Services.  Ms Busse is responsible for payment services for Coles, Kmart, Target and Officeworks and information technology for Coles Financial Services.  Ms Busse has nearly 20 years experience in the financial service industry having held a variety of roles across information technology, payments, business transformation, product development and digital business.  Prior to joining Coles in 2010, Ms Busse held positions with AMP and AXA Australia.

Bruce Mansfield

eftpos Payments Australia Limited

Bruce Mansfield is Managing Director, eftpos. Mr Mansfield is responsible for the development and management of eftpos activities in line with the board approved strategic plan. Mr Mansfield oversees the day to day operations of eftpos as it works to provide the Australian community with accessible, low costing, secure, and contemporary payment choices. Mr Mansfield previously held a number of senior executive positions for Visa Inc. in Australia and around the globe, including executive vice-president of Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands.

Simon Babbage

HSBC Bank Australia Limited

Simon Babbage is Country Head Global Payments and Cash Management for HSBC Bank Australia. Mr Babbage is responsible for the management and distribution of HSBC payment and capabilities into the Australian market, as well as HSBC’s engagement with the Payments Industry in Australia, including the New Payments Platform. Prior to joining HSBC Mr Babbage held management roles in Payments and Cash Management, Equities, Strategy and Relationship Management across both domestic and international institutions.

Richard Wormald

MasterCard Asia/Pacific (Australia) Pty Ltd

Richard Wormald is Division President, Australasia at Mastercard. Mr Wormald is responsible for operations in Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands, leading a team of payments professionals to execute Mastercard’s mission to use technology and expertise to make payments safer, simpler and smarter. Prior to joining Mastercard, Mr Wormald was a Director at Wesfarmers, where he built the Coles Financial Services business. Mr Wormald has also held positions at Accenture, Proctor and Gamble, Unilever and Ford Motor Company.

Rachel Slade

National Australia Bank Limited

Rachel Slade was appointed as Executive General Manager, Deposits & Transaction Services at NAB in January 2017. Prior to joining NAB, Ms Slade was the General Manager, Global Transactional Services at Westpac Institutional Bank between September 2014 and 2016. Ms Slade joined Westpac in July 1999 and held various roles including General Manager, Transformation and Delivery, Head of Group Strategy, General Manager Mergers & Acquisition, Head of International Trade and Payments, Group Head of Diversity and Flexibility. Prior to moving into banking, Ms Slade worked as a financial services strategy consultant with Andersen Consulting. Ms Slade is a Board member of Flourish Australia.

Robert Allen


Robert Allen leads PricewaterhouseCooper’s Payments and Fintech Consulting Practice in Australia with responsibility for advisory services in both traditional payments systems and emerging technologies. As a chartered engineer and former army officer, Mr Allen has a keen interest in innovative technology and is co-founder of PwC’s first Fintech startup business: Vulcan Digital Asset Services. Prior to joining PwC, Mr Allen had an 18 year career in European banking leading large-scale payments, cash management and transaction banking transformation programs at some of the continent’s largest banks including Barclays, Lloyds, Credit Suisse and Nordea.

Lindsay Boulton

Reserve Bank of Australia

Lindsay Boulton is the Assistant Governor (Business Services) at the Reserve Bank of Australia. In this role, Mr Boulton is responsible for the Bank’s provision of a range of services to the community, including banking services to the Australian Government and overseas central banks, payment and settlement services to participants in the Australian financial system, and the issue of Australian banknotes. Prior to his current position, Mr Boulton held the position of Head of Banking Department and, before that, Head of Risk Management. He has also been a director of Note Printing Australia Ltd and of the Australian Payments Clearing Association.

David Carter

Suncorp-Metway Limited

David Carter is the Chief Executive Officer, Banking and Wealth for Suncorp Group. His previous roles have included Chief Financial Officer, Suncorp Bank; Executive General Manager, Customer Development; CEO of Suncorp Life’s New Zealand business; and Leader of the Group’s financial advice networks. Mr Carter has over 25 years’ experience in banking, wealth management, and life insurance, and prior to Suncorp, held senior roles in Banking and Wealth Management at ANZ. Mr Carter is also an experienced Director on subsidiary and Australian Financial Services Licence boards.

Peter Haig

Tyro Payments Limited

Peter Haig is a Co-Founder of Tyro Payments. Mr Haig has held roles as CIO, Head of Product and is transitioning into a Senior Advisor role. Mr Haig was instrumental in the move from a limited SCCI bank licence to a full ADI banking licence, and led the introduction of Tyro’s first deposit and lending products. Mr Haig was a strong advocate for the launch of Australia’s first fintech hub, and continues to engage with its members.

Di Challenor

Westpac Banking Corporation

Di Challenor was appointed as General Manager, Global Transactional Solutions & Client Experience at Westpac Group in January 2017. In this position Di has responsibility for Westpac’s Global Corporate & Institutional service, product and specialised sales teams, which span the domestic and international market. Prior to joining Westpac, Ms Challenor held the role of Managing Director & Head of Transaction Services, Asia Pacific for JP Morgan where she was responsible for driving the firm’s regional business across cash management, liquidity and escrow services. Ms Challenor has also held senior roles at Citibank, Hewlett Packard and SAS Institute.
